The "New" Conservative Files
I would like to announce the creation of the New Conservative Files, which is hosted on the Wordpress.com site. I have been moving my operations to Wordpress because I like the ability to have multiple pages and a more professional look. I will keep this site up, as the archive for the blog, plus I do like some things about Blogger. For now though, go to the new Conservative Files for new posts and other things.

My name is David Hilton and I am a senior history teacher at a high school in Australia. I host a group for history teachers to share resources and ideas at http://groups.diigo.com/groups/history-teachers and on twitter at https://twitter.com/DavidHilton1 and like you am strongly opposed to the way leftist ideologies have taken over history and education more generally. I do not consider myself a conservative, I’m a centrist; however I passionately believe that the profession of history is under sustained attack from social-justice and PC-based ideologies which disregard the historical method and lead to simplistic nostrums and poor-quality history. Historical investigation should start with the evidence, not the theory, in my experience.
My educational background is in the ancient world. I have a degree in Latin, Ancient History and English Literature and I think that classical training saved me from the postmodern relativism of the later courses I did. I teach at a private secondary college in Queensland, Australia. I write poetry in my spare time (not the usual self-indulgent crap that passes for poetry these days, I hope) and strongly focus in my teaching on training my students to rely upon evidence for their assertions and follow historical truth. I would be happy to blog on my experiences as a high school teacher or other related stuff.
Anyway, if you think I’d be suitable I’d be happy to contribute. I hope I hear back from you. I tried emailing but the address didn't work.
